Name and Shame
At todays date, Wednesday 6th August, the following results had still not been received by the league secretary.
Each of these home clubs has been contacted by various means, by Henry, and fines have been issued. You are now reminded that non payment of fines within 28 days will incur a doubling of that fine ((Rule 21)
Nobody wishes to issue fines but non notification of results is hardly being fair to the rest of the teams who wish to know the results

Congratulations
All the first division results in on Friday but none from anybody else. Come on, I know it's nearly the end of the season but next year?
Teams and players involved in relegation and promotion want to know the results more than ever at this time of the year.
Results Service
I have decided to show the results on the front page as they become available.
At the end of each week they will be moved to the results section. If your result does not show quickly it means it has not been received online. If you were away why not chase your opponents to make sure they submit it right away.
July 31st now moved to results page

Coleshill pip Ansley in thrilling last over victory
A tremendous game of cricket at Attleborough saw Coleshill win in a high scoring game in the last over. Full report and photos will follow
Internet Explorer
I am aware of a couple of problems with Internet Explorer. Unfortunately Explorer is not a standards compliant browser and causes many problems.
I have designed this site for Firefox and it works fine in this (I think!) and will also in other standards compliant browsers such as Opera and Safari. All better than Exploer, but I'm working on it!
Photos
I would like to add a section for photos. Anything you like. Match action, team or individual photos.
If you can let me have any you would like to see on the site just email them to me preferably in jpg format and I will add them
If you would like to add any information to this page again let me have it in any format you like and I will add it. Alternatively why not register for the blog and add your own information. Just go HERE
Hilditch Cup Final Reminder
A quick reminder that The Hilditch Cup final will be played this Friday 18th July between Ansley 1 and Coleshill at Attleborough Cricket Club
Try and come along and support the teams and your league
Start is at 6 pm
Attleborough win Albert Robbins Cup Final
A fine and close game at Nuneaton Cricket Club saw Attleborough win in the last over. With Fillongley all out in the last over for 95, Attleborough got off to a poor start with leading batsman Russell Rice being run out in the first over. However the partnership of Harry Horsley and "Ibby" set about reparing the damage. By the time Ibby was out for 33 and Harry for 22 the game appeared to be won, but Fillongley had other ideas. Good batting from Alan York saw the team home in the last over for the loss of 7 wickets

Welcome to the new web site
As you can see I have made several changes to the website.
All the information that was available previously is still available as are a number of additions.
Previous information.
Club information is now available from a drop down menu
Fixtures are still available by a link, on the left, to the old site which will remain until the end of the season
Tables are available as above
Results are also available as above
New Information.
The principal change is simply one of navigation and the addition of results on a weekly basis which may also be printed by clicking on the link at the bottom of each weeks results. There is also a monthly summary and link for printing.
Blog
I have also added a blog and this can be accessed by clicking on the button on the left.
You will also see that I have added a bit of google advertising. I’m not expecting to make money from this, it is more for my own benefit in finding out how all these things work. At the moment the website is hosted on my server and paid for by me. Next season there will be an alternative site, paid for by the league, and I would propose to either keep this going in the same manner or turning it purely into a blog.
Authors
It would be great to have an author from each club. If you are interested in doing this for your club on either a regular or occasional basis please let me know. Reports on your matches, player performances or any cricket related matters are welcome.
Comments
If you have any comments or suggestions, please email me by clicking on the button on the left, but please come up with your reports and articles for the blog.
Articles
Please feel free to add your own articles, preferably cricket related but anything else will be fine so long as it is ethical and legal. You will see I have added a couple of cricket articles and maybe more by the time you read this. I take no credit or blame for these articles which are by Ian Canaway, a level 1 cricket coach, and republished with his permission.
Thank you
Bill

Playing of illegal players
Playing an illegal player, as was stated in my last report on registration of players, Burbage CC put a players details on the back of the report sheet. They were even warned by the umpire on the night of the game that it would not be acceptable. They have forfeited the 4 winning points. The league cannot fine them , as we do not have any fine to cover this situation in the hand book, an executive meeting will be held asap to cover this.
Printing of Tables
I understand that there is some problem with printing of tables and that some people are printing the whole page.
This is incorrect and printing should be done from the download page. Scroll to the bottom and the approriate links will be found there
Match Day Player Registration
I have added a form to the download section of the site which is to be used for player registrations on match night only. Of course, you may continue to use any you have left from last season. This is available in Word or PDF formats
Match report sheets and player registration
Would all capt ensure they double check the report sheet is filled in fully as I am having to work out who has batted where, in future teams who do not fill sheet in correctly ,sheet will be returned and offending team will be fined as per rules.
Also registration of players can be done on line BEFORE the match, clubs wishing to register a player on day of match must be registered with correct form NOT ON BACK OF MATCH REPORT SHEET. Clubs not registering players correctly in future will forfeit game and be fined for playing an unregisterd player.
Please note I am not taking a hard line with clubs, these are the rules agreed by all clubs and will be adhered to, I have been lienient at present but some clubs are playing on this, NO MORE fines and reprimands will be going out in the not to distant future, so come help me help you.
Henry Hope secretary
To All Secretaries and Captains
Both myself and Bill thank you for putting your results on the web BUT a hard copy is still the prime method of reporting.
Up to date I have not fined any clubs but as from the 8th May failure to adhere to rule 16 will result in fines
Would all club captains please use the new report sheet and note which Division or Cup round you have played
Henry Hope
Cracked
I believe I may have solved the problem. Originally I had written some javascript to disable the enter key after it had been pressed once, with the object of ensuring that blank submissions weren't received.
This appeared to work fine in Firefox but not in Explorer so I have disabled this and now hopefully it works in Explorer as well.
Please just be particularly sure not to press the return (Enter) key twice
Results submission update
I realise there is a problem. Submission form is working fine from Firefox, but not Internet Explorer which I appreciate more people probably use.
I am working on this problem but if there is anybody out there with more knowledge than me then there advice would be very welcome!!!
Results Submission
It has been reported to me that there has been some problem with using the result submission page. You must enter basic details even if a game is off. i.e. date, division, both teams, result and importantly a valid email address.
I have carried out further testing this morning and cannot find any problem at all if the above is done.
However to date (Saturday 08.00) only 2 results have been received. I had hoped that all results would be in by now so that tables could be updated before the weekend games. If this is to be a success can I ask that you all do your best to input results ASAP after your matches.
Thank you
New Telephone Numbers
Some telephone numbers for Umpires have been updated. Clubs will receive individual emails with this information, but please refer to the Umpires contact page if you need to speak to an umpire.
Match Cancellations
The committee held a routine meeting last night to discuss the start of the league season. Only one issue of importance to clubs was discussed and that is the question of calling off games. Following a complaint from a club that a match had been called off too early, the league discussed this matter in some detail. However the complaint was not upheld even though the game was called off at midday, becuase the opposition had agreed to this as the conditions at that time were not good. An improvement in the weather during the afternoon apparently made the pitch playable but the cancellation had already been agreed by the opposition so no action was taken.
Clubs are reminded of rule 12 and should not call off matches too soon except by agreement and where the situation is obviously very poor.
Under no circumstances must a match be called off before 12 noon on the day of the match.
In the event of the opposition not agreeing to an early cancellation then both teams should turn up to the match, but at all times common sense should prevail and players and umpires should not be involved in unnecessary expense where there is obviously going to be no chance of play.
When both teams have agreed to a cancellation the home team will inform the umpires.
If a game has been cancelled, then a hard copy form is still required as is the result on the website.
There is no need to telephone the secretary as this is not required and does not take the place of a hard copy.
Underway
Well we're underway. We have received many player registrations from this site and I would like to thank everybody for that. One club have sent their registrations by an email attachment of an Excel spreadsheet and if you already have your players like this then that is fine. I can accept anything in .xls .odt .sxc .doc or .pdf format. Anything else at your peril!
I know there have been one or two problems but that is the idea for this season. Hopefully we'll sort out teething troubles and develop the site more fully for next season.
Additionally, I am aware that the match score submission page was not working correctly last week. I was pleased that there were only 4 scheduled fixtures. However I am madly working on a new php script and trust that I shall have this up and running and tested for this weeks fixtures. I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway!
Because I have just moved I am working mainly from an internet cafe until my new broadband connection is up and running so please bear with me. I shall access emails every other day at worst so if you have any problems I will get back to you pretty quickly. If you have any more immediate problems please give me a call on my mobile, which you can find on the contacts page.
Finally for now. Let's all have a great season and hope it's not too wet!
Best wishes,
Bill
